HANDICAP
An official USGA handicap index is required on the MGT
As an Allied Golf Association of the USGA, the WSGA is authorized to distribute a Handicap Index® from the USGA
Cap Patrol - A handicap committee management and peer-review system designed to promote fair and honest play for everyone. Cap Patrol is a tool that allows us to easily gather all of the data to monitor its players handicaps and scores to present to the MGT handicap committee the background data needed to make adjustments to a players index
Course or playing handicaps will be posted to the MGT website on the start date of each event. Course handicap is calculated using the following formula:
Course Handicap = Handicap Index® x (Slope Rating™ / 113) + (Course Rating™ – par)
* Please note your handicap index and course handicap are two different things. Course handicap is defined as the number of handicap strokes a player receives, before handicap allowances, from a specific set of tees as determined by the Slope Rating and the difference between Course Rating and par
New members who came in without a handicap will play at a 0 until 3 rounds (54 holes) are posted to your WSGA account, a handicap will then begin to trend. See the USGA calculation of handicap index for fewer than 20 rounds below:
A handicap adjustment may be issued by the MGT committee at any time based on data supported by Cap Patrol
Handicap Flights: (estimated based on entries)
A flight - 0-5
B flight - 5.1-10
C flight - 10.1-14
D flight - 14.1-18
E flight - 18+
Establishing handicap - members who come in without a handicap will play at a 0 until 3 rounds (54 holes) are posted to your WSGA account, a handicap will then begin to trend & you’ll be placed into a flight based on said handicap
Flights will be determined on 4/12 when your latest handicap is pulled. Once placed in a flight, you’ll earn points toward your season long standings. As your handicap fluctuates throughout the year you may be competing in a different flight for said event(s), but your season long points total will always report to the flight you started in. This way flights are fluid depending on member handicaps trending up or down.
